Struan Stevenson meets with local primary school
Struan Stevenson, Scottish Tory MEP, today met with 30 pupils from P6 at St Mary’s Primary School in Leith, to talk to them about Europe and the implications it has for Scotland.
Struan said:
“With the upcoming European elections on 4th June, I was delighted to be asked to go to Leith and address the P6 children. It is such as fantastic opportunity to meet with the pupils and to explain more about the European Union, the role of an MEP and the workings of the Parliament.
“In addition, I spoke about some of the campaigns I have recently been working on, such as fishing quotas, protecting hill farmers and the ban on cat and dog fur, which came into effect on 1st January 2009.
“The class was attentive and showed a high level of knowledge on European matters. It’s vital that we continue to encourage children to understand more about the workings of the European Union and its associated institutions.”
