Response received on qualifications for medical professionals
On 17 November 2011, Struan Stevenson wrote to Michel Barnier, Commissioner for Internal Market and Services concerning recognition of the professional qualifications of medical professionals in the EU.
He made a number of recommendations on implementing safeguards to ensure that the current directive on this issue continues to bring benefits, particularly in terms of mobility, while ensuring that the potential for harm to patients is limited.
This week, the Commssioner responded by outlining steps taken since November to address these concerns.
