European elections offer significant opportunity for voters
Dear Sir,
Today’s European election offers a significant opportunity for voters to make their voices heard. 70 percent of our laws and almost half of our business regulations are made in Brussels so this election is as important as any general election.
This is your chance to vote for change. Change in the way our politicians are held accountable and change in the way Europe affects our daily lives.
We need MEPs who will defend British and Scottish interests in Brussels and Strasbourg. Labour has let Britain down by giving up our rebate and voting to scrap our opt-out from the Working Time Directive. The Liberal Democrats have voted to extend massively the powers and influence of the EU. Despite the SNP wanting an 'independent Scotland', their support for the EURO would pass control of our currency from the Bank of England in London, to the European Central Bank in Frankfurt. As for UKIP, instead of defending British interests they have repeatedly let Britain down. They have voted for more EU red tape, to let Spanish trawlers fish in protected Scottish waters and against global free trade. We have been leading the agenda for change that the EU really needs.
Yours faithfully
Struan Stevenson
