"Choice for Scotland”
Attempts had been made in the European Parliament to introduce unrealistically low thresholds for noise levels which could have resulted in bagpipes being banned. It was Struan who led a campaign in Europe to save the bagpipes. But after consultation with Scottish musicians, Struan introduced an exemption into the legislation to allow musicians and the music industry to continue to make Scottish music in the traditional way.
Struan also takes Scottish culture to Brussels each year when he organises and hosts the annual European Parliamentary Burns Supper.
