In response to the growing impact of wind turbines on the value of nearby property, Struan has submitted a written question asking what steps the European Commission will take to ensure that both national and local authorities in member states assess and evaluate all potential impacts on property values prior to giving consent to planning applications.
Struan has sent a written question to the European Commission asking it to clarify the process by which the EU's precautionary principle can be invoked when examining the health impacts of wind turbines.
The European Commission has provided an answer to the written question Struan asked in November asking if it is aware of the existance of a new science-based, peer-reviewed research report by British and Canadian authors drawing a causal link between wind farms and harm to sleep and health in people living close to them. He also asked whether this research will be given full consideration by the Commission in informing its policies on renewable energy.
